The Land Rover was replaced by a Toyota vehicle of similar design about 30 years ago. It really is a masterful craft. It holds perhaps 8 people, is four-wheel drive with tires that seem immune to the rocks and bushes littering the countryside. Our driver, whose name seems to come close to Kissimmee, is charming, has a bouyant spirit and an infectious smile.

There are shorts under the skirt.
Kissimmee is our driver for the time we are here. This is Nari's second time visiting and he knows Kissimmee from before. They are fast frients.
On our first evening out (Tuesday), Kissimmee gives us a quick introduction of the northern part of the park. Here's the ever-useful hyena.

The wildebeest:

Impalas:

And the Dik-dik.

You can see that the ground is littered with stones, fragments of basalt.
At the end of this brief introduction, Kissimmee quickly sets up a bar to offer us chips, popcorn and other goodies plus beer, wine or Coke.

It is chilly and we are provided insulated ponchoes. They are a blessing.

And the sunset in the gathering rain clouds give a visual treat.

More tomorrow!
Cheers,
Brio
