Since we left Kent Narrows so early, we would arrive before mid-afternoon in Baltimore where our next marina would be. Where to go to have lunch? What a lovely problem to have! Immediately to the west of Kent Island the Magothy River on the western shore. It is just south of the Patapsco River which leads to Baltimore. We had read that it was beautiful.

As we entered the Magothy through a narrow slot, the River opened to a lovely bay, protected from the northeast wind that was developing behind us. We had Gibson Island on our starboard side and we wanted to explore what lay behind it.

In we crept, obeying the 6 knot speed limit. No wake.

On the left as we came in was a lovely estate.

In front of the estate was a field of horses.

And even horses standing in the water, cooling their hooves.

Going further in around Gibson Island, we came to the head of the bay. We had now encircled Gibson Island and could look across a narrow causeway to the Chesapeake and its shipping channel.

We grabbed someone's mooring for lunch. We could rest easy because on the next to us stood a watch dog, protecting the boat and us from predator birds, vagrants and other offensive types.

It was time for us to leave. Besides, the mooring we grabbed belonged to someone else and that owner had just asked us to vacate! Timing was perfect. Off we went for Baltimore.

Cheers,

Brio
