Immediately south of Annapolis are a couple of rivers that lead to beautiful coves. Off the West River is the Rhode River. Back in a more remote part of the Rhode lies anchorages that are surrounded by a Smithsonian preserve. These banks are notable for the absence of buildings and the ever-present Chesapeake dock.
But it was the moon that commanded our attention. This was the Harvest Moon and it was at its perigee, its closest to the Earth. It was magnificent in the evening.

And in the morning...

As a backdrop, we were fortunate to have the woods right down to the shoreline.

And

We arrived mid-afternoon. As evening approached, we had seven other boats anchored nearby. All sailboats, all quiet. The area lived up to all the cruising guides promised: solitude, peacefulness and far from the busy-ness of Annapolis.
Today we go around the corner to a marina, then across the Bay to the Eastern Shore.
Cheers,
Brio
